Depaving volunteers needed Saturday, August 20

After two years of planning and neighborhood coordination, we’re finally ready to break ground on the Frazer Park Community Garden! Portland Parks Commissioner Nick Fish’s office has pledged to provide funds to supplement our grants to complete the garden installation by spring of 2012!

Speaking of groundbreaking, we need volunteers on Saturday, August 20 from 9 am to 3 pm to help tear out 10,000 square feet of asphalt to make room for the garden. Volunteers of all ages are welcome, and snacks, tools, water, and safety gear will be provided. Volunteers are encouraged to wear long pants and closed-toe shoes, as well as weather-appropriate clothing.

Depave, one of our project partners, is coordinating the event. For more information, read their depaving event flyer (PDF), or contact kate@depave.org.
